UD: OCTOBER TRAINING SUMMARY

We are fast approaching the second full month since our return to our autumn term training and we have been fortunate to witness some great highlights across our UDFC sessions so far.

Our Monday football sessions, based at Paddington Rec Ground have seen the group master many of the fundamental skills to assist them in keeping possession of the ball; Understanding how to shield a defender away has been a core focus and we have up-skilled this group into knowing how to protect the ball when dribbling.

Wednesdays football sessions at Harris Academy, (St Johns Wood) have been so well attended that we have begun to work with the group to develop their tactical understanding of the game. The group have learned what is expected of them when their team loses possession as well as what their roles and responsibilities are when their team win back possession of the ball. This transition period is where most goals are scored and conceded so we have put our full focus on developing the children's learning and understanding of this and we have seen such vast improvements, filtering down to such great results in our league games too!

Our Friday Football/Futsal and weekend sessions are now half way through their training syllabus for this Autumn Term. The group have completed sessions on passing, receiving, 1v1's and finishing. The focus moving forward into November will be more on 'chaos games'. This topic challenges the group on knowing which decision is best to make wherever they are on the field. Our aim is to give our players challenging/chaotic game-like situations to try and get out of. Our coaches will be guiding our younger UD players into knowing when to pass, dribble or shoot.

We hope you have seen as many improvements as we have over this past month and we look forward to seeing how the children will further improve with the sessions up ahead.
