February 2021 Training Summary
February has been a month filled with brand new online initiatives and activities for all our UD players to enjoy.
As we are fast approaching our return to football we feel this is a crucial time to prepare our players for the return to outdoor football.
Last Saturdays ‘Family Fitness Session’ saw us welcome many families from across the UD and Islington Boxing Club network. Adults and children of all ages took part in a series of mini HIIT style workouts. This Saturdays’ session (Feb 27th), was led by GB Olympic boxing prospect Connor Daly and we loved seeing you all there!
February 1st-7th marked ‘Children’s Mental Health Awareness week’ and we wanted to do all we could to support our players through this difficult lockdown period. We were fortunate enough to have a live Q&A with UD star, Scarlett Sullivan (age 13).
Scarlett discussed her journey of being a female UD player and also gave great insight in to some of the barriers she felt discouraged other girls from playing football and her tools to overcome them. Read more about Scarletts journey here.
On Thursday 25th February, coach Ryan hosted a ‘Sport Wellbeing’ session to take our UD players through the Myers Briggs Personality Indicator. This tool gave our players the opportunity to be more self-aware as well as learning how to work best with team members.
And when we thought that was all, we had an exceptional Futsal session yesterday from England Futsal International, Russell Goldstein. It was great to see all the children take their game to the next level and have the opportunity to ask questions to a pro!
