Your February News

UD House Cup

United Dragons House Cup  will enable all players to play regular matches over the summer term. The matches will take place every other Saturday in our regular training spot in regent’s park. All boys/girls will be entered into a team and this will be the team they represent over the course of the summer term. Each team will be assigned a league manager and all results will be shared via our internal league.

Communication for matches will come via email. We will be very consistent with timings as we want to have as much continuity as possible.

Each team will be given a coloured bib with their team name across it.

All games will be refereed by United Dragons coaches.

The squads will be picked at random, but we will endeavour to make the teams as fair as possible.

The winning team will be awarded prizes on the final week of the term.

Let the fun begin!

League Update

United Dragons have continued their fine form in the league this month. We have picked up several impressive victories, most notably a hard fought 3-2 win for our U13’s. Other highlights include our U11 red team winning their semi-final match 2-0 to join our U8’s in the league cup final!

The U7’s are going from strength to strength and are currently showing huge improvements both as individuals and also as a team. The U9’S have been unstoppable this month and have brushed every team aside with consummate ease. Across our U9 teams, they have amassed 27 goals during the month of February whilst conceded a grand total of 0.

Our girls continue to impress. The older girls suffered heartbreak as they narrowly lost in the cup 3-2. However, there were plenty of positives to take away from the game and they will be a stronger team for it.

Overall the month of February has seen United Dragons continue to take the league by storm.. no pun intended. Hopefully the weather can clear up in March and we can end the season on a high!

February Training Topics

The month of February has seen our players focus largely on creativity and goal scoring. Each session has had a clear objective which has been to afford the autonomy to our players to explore different ways of scoring goals. The sessions have had a mix of game based practices whilst also pinpointing the technical aspects that go into creativity, goal scoring and clever movement.

With this topic in mind, it has been fantastic to see a total of 55 goals go in this month across our league teams. Clearly the coaching has been tip top, whilst the players are learning, working hard and reaping the rewards on game day.

Next month, we are going to have a focus on transition. This is often a part of the game that gets neglected. What do we want our players to do once they lose possession? What do we want them to do once we regain possession? With this in mind we will be looking into attacking and defending the counter attack.

This coach of the month goes to Denerson!

Denerson has been vital in setting up our Futsal team with the London FA and will be taking our Futsal players over for their first pro match on March 22nd.

Well done!

Denerson’s Q&A

1. What has been your favorite UD moment so far:
First victory with U11 Girls Team - they played so well and we worked really hard in training to secure the win on the weekend

2. What inspired you to be a football coach:
My past football coaches have inspired me to follow the same path, because when I used to be a player they helped me so much to achieve my dream and understand that is never easy but you can’t give up in life. So I always had this idea to become a football coach afterwards so I also could help other kids achieve the dream.

3. Favourite Manager:
Pep Guardiola

4. Favourite football position:
Center Mid

5. Best Memory on the football field:
My first trial for an academy team back in 2006 when I was only 10 years old. I was the only 10 year old boy who got called to join the club and was chosen out of 250 children.
