At United Dragons we have loved our Tuesday and Saturday Fitness classes. We feel that so much attention is often placed on children’s technical qualities that the physical side gets ignored. Health and exercise is such an important part of life that we have decided to pay it the attention it deserves. Every Tuesday we conduct a kids fitness class which is made up of bodyweight exercises designed to raise the heart rate, get a good sweat on and maintain a good level of fitness.

Each session focuses on a key component of fitness, weather is be Cardio Vascular or Muscular Endurance. The attendance has been outstanding so far and the kids are beginning to design their own home workouts in the process! All of our workouts are bodyweight only, meaning no equipment needed!
One of the most important benefits of bodyweight exercise is its ability to improve your cardiovascular endurance and muscle strength all at once. Frequently changing your position keeps the heart rate elevated, while body weight and gravity work together to strengthen muscles.

We have also introduced a family fitness class every Saturday! Myself (Chris) along with Ryan and Daryl run the session for all UD kids, Mums, Dads and siblings. This is a fantastic opportunity to start the weekend off the right way, with some family bonding time, whilst getting a sweat on! So far, the family fitness classes have been an absolute blast! It has been wonderful to see so many families get involved and encourage good habits to their children.

As parents we are well aware of the importance of a healthy lifestyle. We encourage our children to play sport and keep physically active, whilst we may head to the gym. Physical activity is so important we often schedule it into our weekly diary. However, exercising as a family doesn’t seem to be as commonplace. We often find time for family movies nights, but family sports sometimes gets forgotten. As silly as it may sound, there are many benefits to family fitness. I strongly encourage you to join us for our next live class this Saturday.

With fitness and health at the forefront of my mind, I have decided to embark on the Personal Trainer Course in order to further enhance my knowledge of the fitness industry. I am thoroughly looking forward to completing the course and sharing some of the expertise with everyone associated with United Dragons!

Once we’re out of lock down, we intend on setting up Sunday bootcamp sessions for UD parents and kids.. watch this space! But for now, keep tuning in to our fitness classes and stay physically active!
