Former professional footballer, Chris started his playing career at Premier League club Brentford where he played academy football up to the age of 18, where he received his first professional contract. Following Brentford, Chris played for two years at Woking FC and captained the team from central midfield.

Chris made the tough decision to hang up his boots in order to further educate himself in the world of football, education and coaching. Chris attended Southampton University and received a first class degree in sport and exercise science.

With the league season approaching its final month, it’s time to turn our attention to the cup. There is something special about cup competitions; the drama, the unpredictability, the added pressure that comes with knock out competitions. I am so proud to say that our teams have risen to the occasion and currently we are chasing multiple trophies in various different age groups.

With the month of February coming to an end, I speak on behalf of all our UDFC coaches to say a huge, 'well done’ to each of our UDFC players for the vast improvements made across all of our UD training sessions this month.

Despite the challenging weather we have faced in recent weeks, it has been a joy to see our UD players turning up each week, keen as ever to play.

Ryan has worked in the professional sport sector for over 15 years following on from a football career that began at his boyhood club, Newcastle United FC. Ryan’s playing career seen him represent many great clubs, both in England and the USA as well as gaining 7 international caps for the principality of Sealand where he still remains their record goalscorer with 6 goals in 7 international games.

On January 8th 2022, the Regent’s Park youth league resumed and thousands of kids, parents, grandparents and dogs wrapped up warm and filled the sidelines to cheer on their team.

Many would have thought that the festive celebrations, mince pies and Christmas puddings would have caused a slow and rusty start to the new calendar year, however, this couldn’t be further than the truth.

After a blistering start to the league in September, many thought that United Dragons would slow down in the month of October. This couldn’t be further from reality as October has been every bit as successful as September!

With the shortened month due to half term break, there has naturally been less games, but the games we have seen have been another example of the incredible progress made by all of our boys and girls teams.

We are fast approaching the second full month since our return to our Autumn Term training and we have been fortunate to witness some great highlights across our UDFC sessions so far.

There’s nothing quite like the feeling of waking up the morning of game day. The anticipation, thrill and nervous energy filled the streets of London as thousands of excited children and parents made there way to Regents Park for the start of the 2021/2022 league season.

The month of September has been truly remarkable. The football often breathtaking, the goals incredible and the team spirit amongst the squads have never been better.

Whilst everyone at United Dragons is enjoying their summer holidays, behind the scenes we have been quietly plotting our league campaign for next season.

All of the league managers are gearing up for what is going to be our biggest and best year to date. With the transfer window officially open, we have seen some mega new transfers come in to the club which will no doubt add to the already immense quality we have in all of our teams!

As we approach the Summer holidays, it is important we take a look back on all the great achievements our players have made in training over the past term.

Both Alex and Andrew attend ASL (American School London) where many of our players attend so it’s been great for some of our ASL players to be able to look up to them as role models and also young aspiring coaches.

The wet and windy month of May has seen our UD players perform some of the finest football we have had the pleasure of seeing all season.

We were delighted to have two England International Futsal players in Russel Goldstein and Richard Ward take 300+ UD players through a series of Futsal games and skills followed by a Q&A.

Matt brings a fountain of knowledge to the United Dragons and I know our players and coaches all benefit from his insight, tactical and technical expertise. We caught up with Matt during the week to get to know him on a deeper level. Please see Matt’s detailed answers below!

Although Futsal is very much a game in its own right, there are also a number of benefits for football by encouraging young people to play Futsal as part of a balanced training programme to improve their overall technical development.
