With the UD 2022 Spring Term coming to an end, it’s always important that we reflect on the successes and achievements made across our training sessions this past month.
As coaches, our focus this month has been to improve our players’ tactical awareness and game understanding through mini games and matches. We are fully aware of our players’ desire to play more games in training and this has proved to be a great tool for their technical and tactical development.
Former professional footballer, Chris started his playing career at Premier League club Brentford where he played academy football up to the age of 18, where he received his first professional contract. Following Brentford, Chris played for two years at Woking FC and captained the team from central midfield.
Chris made the tough decision to hang up his boots in order to further educate himself in the world of football, education and coaching. Chris attended Southampton University and received a first class degree in sport and exercise science.
With the league season approaching its final month, it’s time to turn our attention to the cup. There is something special about cup competitions; the drama, the unpredictability, the added pressure that comes with knock out competitions. I am so proud to say that our teams have risen to the occasion and currently we are chasing multiple trophies in various different age groups.

Despite the challenging weather we have faced in recent weeks, it has been a joy to see our UD players turning up each week, keen as ever to play.
Ryan has worked in the professional sport sector for over 15 years following on from a football career that began at his boyhood club, Newcastle United FC. Ryan’s playing career seen him represent many great clubs, both in England and the USA as well as gaining 7 international caps for the principality of Sealand where he still remains their record goalscorer with 6 goals in 7 international games.

After a blistering start to the league in September, many thought that United Dragons would slow down in the month of October. This couldn’t be further from reality as October has been every bit as successful as September!
With the shortened month due to half term break, there has naturally been less games, but the games we have seen have been another example of the incredible progress made by all of our boys and girls teams.

Both Alex and Andrew attend ASL (American School London) where many of our players attend so it’s been great for some of our ASL players to be able to look up to them as role models and also young aspiring coaches.
